FBK is looking for a European Project Manager in the field of Artificial Intelligence to join the Strategic Planning – European Affairs function, which operates at the intersection of research, policy, and funding.
What to expect
If you have experience in EU project development and want to work at the interface between research strategy, policy, and funding, this role offers a concrete opportunity to do so. You will contribute to the design and implementation of FBK's European strategy in digital technologies and AI, working on both the execution of ongoing strategic initiatives, such as DeployAI and CoordinaTEF, and the development of new competitive proposals. The role combines hands-on proposal writing, project management, and stakeholder engagement across academia, industry, and public sector partners. The contract is fixed-term for 3 years, full-time (38 hours per week), with a preferred start date of August 2026. The gross annual salary is € 47.182, plus an objectives achievement bonus. The selected candidate will coordinate and implement EU-funded strategic initiatives, monitor European policies and funding opportunities in digital technologies with a focus on AI, and lead the preparation of competitive proposals under Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, and related programmes. The role involves engaging with internal FBK research centres to align capabilities with EU opportunities, building and managing European partnerships and consortia, and contributing to project design including impact definition and exploitation strategies. Cross-functional collaboration between scientific, administrative, and external stakeholders is a core part of the role.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Engineering, Computer Science, or Innovation Management/European Studies with strong technical exposure;
- At least 3 years of experience in fundraising activities (proposal development and writing) and European R&I projects (Horizon Europe, Digital Europe);
- Proven experience working in international consortia;
- Strong knowledge of EU funding instruments and evaluation criteria;
- Excellent written and spoken Italian and English;
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred requirements
The following will be considered an advantage:
- Understanding of digital technologies and Artificial Intelligence;
- Experience in large-scale EU initiatives or flagship projects;
- Experience in coordination roles (e.g. Work Package Leader, proposal coordinator);
- Experience in multidisciplinary and international environments;
- Familiarity with major European AI-related policies (e.g. AI Continent Action Plan, Apply AI Strategy).
