FBK is seeking a Technologist in the fields of energy flexibility, decarbonization and digitalization to join the Centre for Sustainable Energy (SE), within the Area Sustainable Territories.
What to expect
You will work on applied research and innovation projects supporting the energy transition at European, national, and local levels, within an internationally recognized research institution based in Trentino. The role involves collaboration with research centers, industries, grid operators, and local stakeholders, contributing to practical solutions for energy flexibility, decarbonization, and digitalization with real-world impact.Position
The role focuses on technical and research activities within FBK-SE projects on energy flexibility, decarbonization, and digitalization, with a primary focus on the FLEXIA project. Responsibilities include supporting the integration of industrial Energy Management Systems, optimizing demand-side flexibility, and evaluating its contribution to local electricity grids. The position also involves the preparation of technical documentation, project deliverables, and scientific publications.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should have:
- MSc degree in Energy Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline;
- Strong knowledge of industrial energy flexibility and decarbonization;
- Solid skills in renewable energy integration, storage systems, and energy system integration;
- Solid understanding of electrical grid design, operation, and electricity markets;
- Experience in energy planning and energy system modeling;
- Experience in digitalization of industrial systems and electrical grids, including data-driven energy services;
- Ability to write technical reports and scientific publications;
- Good knowledge of Italian and English (written and spoken);
- Ability to work collaboratively and achieve assigned objectives;
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills;
- Self-motivation and results-oriented attitude.
Preferred requirements
The following will be considered an advantage:
- PhD in a field related to energy systems, flexibility, or digitalization;
- Knowledge of industrial processes;
- Experience with business models for energy services;
- Experience in participatory and co-design methodologies;
- Expertise in policy analysis and policy recommendations.
