The University of Trento is looking for a Technologist to join the Department of Psychology and Cognitive Science (DIPSCO), based in Rovereto, to support the TIPE research project (Towards Inclusive Public Environments), funded by the Italian Science Fund and focused on the development of virtual environments that allow participants to explore and compare real and modified urban spaces.
What to expect
You will work within DIPSCO, designing and developing immersive urban environments in virtual reality, used to simulate interventions in urban spaces with particular attention to the gender dimension. This is a technical, hands-on role suited to someone with software development and 3D modelling skills who is interested in working closely with experimental research, combining development activities, headset configuration and support during sessions with participants. The contract is fixed-term for 24 months, with the possibility of renewal for a further 12 months, full time (36 hours per week), under the former D3 economic category and the 2025–2027 Education and Research National Collective Labour Agreement. The initial gross annual salary is €37,596. The position is based in Rovereto. The University offers flexible working hours, the possibility of remote working where compatible with the role, and an employee welfare package including meal vouchers, a company nursery, health insurance, public transport contributions, reserved parking, scholarships for employees’ children, psychological counselling services and access to affiliated sports activities.Position
The selected candidate will be responsible for the 3D modelling and implementation of squares and urban environments using Unity and programming languages such as C# and JavaScript, as well as for the development of navigable virtual reality environments, with particular attention to the accurate representation and usability of spaces.
The role includes supporting the implementation, configuration and testing of VR environments and headsets used in experimental activities, the synchronisation of navigation and data acquired from VR headsets with external physiological measurements, and the management, extraction, organisation and pre-processing of data collected during experiments.
The selected candidate will also support data analysis activities and the verification of the quality and completeness of the acquired data, and provide technical assistance during experimental sessions, checking the correct functioning of hardware and software systems.

- at least two years of professional and/or research experience following a Bachelor’s degree, or at least one year of professional and/or research experience, or a PhD, following a Master’s degree, in areas relevant to the activities covered by the position;
- programming skills and experience in developing interactive applications, including for Android devices, preferably using C# and/or JavaScript;
