Sontheim Industrie Elektronik is a German company founded in 1996 in Kempten, specialising in the development of electronic systems, hardware and software for automation, diagnostics and connectivity.
Founded as a small electronics laboratory, today it is a systems provider working with major international OEMs, particularly in the agricultural machinery, industrial machinery and mobile systems sectors. Its solutions are designed for complex, continuous operating environments, from tractors in the field to industrial plants, where reliability, communication between systems and 24/7 operation are essential requirements. One of its most important areas of expertise is interface and diagnostic technology for agricultural machinery, a sector in which Sontheim is recognised as an international market leader. The company develops solutions based on industrial communication protocols and standards such as CAN, ISOBUS and J1939, and is active in international industry and standardisation organisations including AEF, ASAM and CiA.
The group employs around 120 people across Germany and the United States. In 2021, the year of its 25th anniversary, Sontheim opened an Italian office in Rovereto, with the aim of serving the Italian market directly in the fields of automation, diagnostics and industrial connectivity. The Trentino office is still a lean operation within a well-established international group. For those joining the company, this means working closely with Italian customers, contributing to the growth of a presence that is still developing and helping to build the company’s new chapter in Italy.
