Fondazione Edmund Mach (FEM) is an international research center, a technical and vocational agricultural school and a technology transfer center that carries out service and consulting activities in the area. It has an experimental farm with plots located in various locations throughout the province, expanding the possibilities for research, experimentation and teaching.
About the Role
The Fondazione Edmund Mach is looking for a Fourth level Technologist (T4) in the area of Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Informatics for database systems intelligent data integration and big data analytics – recruiting for the formation of a ranking for temporary employee contracts (399_CRI_MAI)- deadline for applications 3 November 2025. Organizational structure: Research and Innovation Centre – Unit of Digital Agriculture. Head of the Unit: dr. Pietro Franceschi. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, and integration of ML/AI-based systems for automated data processing, annotation, and user interaction
Duties include:
- Development of intelligent pipelines for structured data curation and annotation Implementation of natural language query systems and AI-assisted data exploration
- Maintenance of open-source analysis tools and interoperability frameworks
- Contribution to automated database development
- Dissemination of results through publications, workshops, and training activities
Under the supervision of the PI, the selected researchers will deal with:
- Research & Development:designing and implementing workflows for data annotation, curation, and quality assurance to support robust scientific research
- Problem Solving: developing strategies and tools to address challenges in data integration, management, and usability across diverse research domains
- Data Management: overseeing the lifecycle of datasets, including acquisition, curation, annotation, versioning, and long-term preservation
- Software Implementation: developing and maintaining open-source tools that enable scalable data integration, analysis, and sharing within the scientific community
- Validation & Testing: designing and executing processes to validate workflows, ensure data quality, and test interoperability with established international standards
- Dissemination: supporting training and dissemination activities, including training courses to FEM employees, workshops, documentation, and contributions to open-source platforms, to strengthen community adoption
- Collaboration: working closely with scientific partners and domain experts to ensure interoperability, align with international standards, and deliver impactful solutions
- Staying Current: keeping up-to-date with the latest advancements in data standards, open-source software, and best practices in data curation and integration
Requirements
- Master’s degree (≥4 years) in Computer Science, Informatics, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or equivalent obtained within a maximum of 6 years prior to the deadline for submitting the application for this selection notice (the title must be obtained after October 2, 2019)
- Knowledge of English (minimum level B2), evaluated during the interview.
