FBK is seeking a researcher in multimodal Large Language Models, with a focus on speech and video processing. The role is designed for candidates who want to contribute to next-generation AI systems within an internationally recognized research environment based in Trentino.

The selected profile will be involved in:
- research on multimodal integration (speech and video), speech translation, and low-resource fine-tuning techniques;
- design and development of machine learning models, including new architectures and optimization strategies;
- integration of external knowledge (e.g., documents from knowledge bases) into LLM pipelines;
- collaboration with the team to bring research outputs toward applied use cases;
- contribution to scientific publications and presentation of results.
Requirements
The following qualifications are required and will guide the candidate selection process:
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or a closely related field;
- solid background in deep learning;
- understanding of multimodal LLM foundations (e.g., Transformer-based models);
- excellent programming skills in Python;
- proficiency in English;
- clear communication skills and a collaborative approach;
- proactive and goal-oriented approach to research activities.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are not mandatory but will be considered as added value during the selection process:
- PhD in Computer Science or a related discipline;
- experience with large-scale machine learning projects or distributed computing environments;
- ability to plan and manage a research agenda, contribute to project proposals, and mentor students;
- publication record in machine translation, speech translation, or related areas.
